Video in Motion
Does anyone out there know for sure if the service techs have an easy way to enable "video in motion"?
I know I can purchase after market software to enable this (dvdinmotion.com). But I'd rather not load "foreign" software into my COMAND.
I have a 6, 4 and 2 year old who I'd rather "stay quiet" while I'm driving by watching Frozen for the umpteenth time... Or other Disney movie that they like to watch over and over and over and over....
Thanks in advance!

No they won't enable it for you. They don't load "foreign" software onto your Command. They simply enable the code to do it - like flicking a switch.
I bought the module from here http://media-trading.net and it worked on the C63S no worries. It was $180 USD (I forget if that included postage or not).
It's quite a novelty driving with it on (and of course not looking at the screen heh)

I would rather find an MB service rep that will do it vs. going with the "media-trading" route - especially after going into their website. I mean, c'mon. There is no way I'm going to risk my brand new AMG with that company that looks beyond shady. Who know what else they are doing by plugging into the OBD2 port? Like you said, it's merely "flipping a toggle switch in software".

You do know its actually illegal to have this done? (at least in most countries) Any MB rep that does this will lose their job if found out - so I think unless you can code it yourself then you're stuck with one of these "unknown" companies enabling it for you.
dvdinmotion.com has been around for a very long time and literally done it for thousands of vehincles without any dramas whatsoever - and to many members of this forum. Not really sure what you think can happen as they cant actually "load" software at all, just changing a code.

Maybe a $50 tablet for each.

Also, since we're on a soapbox here, it's also illegal to drive over the speed limit, put your seatbelt on AFTER you select drive in your car, make turns without using turn signals, rolling through a stop sign, talking on a cell while holding it, TEXTING (I truly wish people wouldn't do this), DUI, etc. ? Just sayin', unless anyone doesn't do any of these, let's avoid any judgmental attitudes. There's no way in hell I'd be watching DVD's while driving, but it's also a lot more distracting to me when the kids are going nuts on each other while we're doing long drives.

Can somebody upload the dvdinmotion dvd to a share site? I would like to reverse engineer / figure out what they are doing. Hopefully this is a simple tweak that anybody can do once we actually know what they are doing.

I think the value of their product is in ease of install, no or little need to modify existing harness and reversibility and plug and play capability. They use a concept that is no secret. You can find what you need from other sources. The key is to fool comand into thinking that the transmission is in park or that the car is not moving.

I don't believe so. It's not "fooling" anything. I believe it's even simpler than that where it's only a software toggle switch within COMAND that says something to the effect of "Allow video while the car is in motion" = one toggle switch.

Speaking of COMAND, anybody figured out how to get into the engineering menu on W205? As there is no keypad, the typical Call End + 1 + # can't be used.
Perhaps there is a toggle for dvd in motion in there.

There's already a thread on how to get into COMAND. You'll easily find it by searching . Unfortunately, the toggle is not there.

Can you point me to the thread because I asked a while back and nobody replied to my thread and I searched the forum and couldn't find it. To be clear I am referring to engineering mode hidden menus. I've been looking for how to get into them because no keypad exists on the W205, so how do you get into the hidden menus?

Sorry!!! I'm off to vacation and the wife is bashing me to get me off of the computer!!!!! Aarrrggghhh!!!! It's either in the AMG forum or the regular W205 forum. From memory, the buttons used are on the steering wheel.

Are you referring to the service menu in the instrument cluster? i.e. holding down Answer Call + OK

I also don't know about split view but it is irrelevant here.
