Motor mount replacement

Hi got a question replacing motor mounts on a 2007 sl550. Was replacing one of my front shocks (leaking) and noticed a dried black run marks coming from the engine mounts. Looking for any input on replacing them thanks for any help

buy oem. there are 2 corteco/febi/etc models. One is really cheap and one is basically the same price as OEM. The cheap one is for the low power engines and the expensive is for the AMG cars and are much more durable.

So am I to understand that the sl55 motor mounts interchange with the sl550?
And it's more robust. Do you have any step by step on removing the mounts or link for DIY. Again thanks for all the support and help

2005 SL55 AMG
Hi Dave, they are swapped from under the car. Of course a lift really helps.

When I did mine on my 2005 SL55 I dropped the exhaust which really helped for access. I also changed the driveshaft donuts at the same time as they had signs of cracking.

IIRC I cut down a cheap 16mm wrench to gain access to the top engine mount bolts. It was kinda tight up there as they are close to the exhaust manifolds (again IIRC I changed mine a few years ago).

There are several good write-ups here on the forum if you search.

Fairly simple on a non-4matic car. Loosen the upper 16mm bolt, we have a nifty offset socket set that lets you get at them from the top, but i've had success with a normal box wrench and using a pry-bar to get leverage to break them loose originally. Then remove the two lower bolts (13mm) that go though the subframe, they aren't very tight. You may have to remove heat shields depending on your specific model. Then jack the engine up an inch or so and slide the mounts out, again where they come out depends on the car, some front, some rear.

Yeah on the floor it isn't fun because of the angles needed. If you have the car nice and secure on some big jack stands, and can jack the engine up with a floor jack or similar, it won't be that bad really. It's not gonna be quick or easy but it's not terribly difficult, just will take a little trial and error to find out what tools and where to access the needed bolts.
