Just wondering at what speeds you guys are still breaking the tires loose at.

Not sure the highest, but on the way to the track with soft DR's on, I hammered it at 35 and when it kicked down, I looked in the rear view to see 2 lonnnggg light black marks behind me. Smiled allll the way to the track.

There was a guy in a pickup watching....he must have been trippin.

110mph!!! but that was in my 427 Cobra that weighs 2500lbs. Does that count?? My E55 hooks well. I'm not breaking them loose like these other guys are saying but, I do have Toyo RA1's on my car.

Damn, then my car must be below par. Even w/out LSD and stock Contis I rarely break the stock tires loose below 40mph. Maybe the 4000ft elevation doesnt help, but the more I think about it, the more suspicious I grow. I just wish we had a reputable shop with a dyno around. The only local shop with a dyno almost destroyed my friend's 500rwhp Integra when they didnt strap it down properly.

Medici,

Doesn't sound right even at that elevation. I'm much lower here in MI, but in my quest to get the right launch in my new '03 E55 with Contis I couldn't get into full throttle until after about 30-35mph without breaking the tires loose. I hate Contis. Unfortunately they are new.

I'll still break them loose around 35 mph. But these other guys are talking about doing it at 50+!!

My only problem with my E55 wagon? Damn thing will only smoke the rears for 75 to 100 feet, unlike the 200 feet my sedan brothers are getting. Oh well, guess I might get more tire life out of my wonderful Continentals as a result...

Are you guys trying to break them loose at these speeds? I think my car is a good peforming E from some of the times you guys have posted and I can't get my car to break at 30mph. It will chirp the tires at about 25mph and thats with the auto downshift into first. At 30-35mph it's at low RPM's in 2nd and it's not close to breaking the tires. Are you guys talking wet roads, around corners etc... My cars running 12 0's in the 1/4 bone stock and I just can't spin the tires that much.

Nope.. In the dry, and going in a straight line. 75-80km/h, 3rd gear, Manual mode... Quick tap to downshift to 2nd while simultaneously hitting the gas. Car does a little fish-tail and takes off.

It also has flashed the ESP light on me while going straight in 3rd gear in higher RPM and just mashing the gas. This thing is a torque monster!

Actually, I've intimidated a few cars by doing it while next to them when they are trying to egg me on. That's always fun watching their reaction.

It's alot better with the 295 PS2 than it was with the 265 continentals. With the Continentals I could mash the gas in 3rd gear and have a steady ESP light flashing on the dash.

It scares my wife sometimes when she is with me.. She just looks over and says "Quit it!". Priceless.

You must have been on a gravel road with those 19's pumped up to about 50psi. Just kidding, with all the power you're shooting for you will have to get rid of those 19's and get back into the 18's in an R compound tire. Have fun. What's going on with the exhaust? Did you get it dynoed?

LOL.. Nope.. 39psi front 38psi rear.. nice paved road.. DRY too.. But, it was nice and cool so the motor was breathing in healthy air.

Hitting the rollers tomorrow night! Hopefully it will be a cool afternoon and not 33C again.

I did it once at 60mph while getting onto the freeway. It sure gave the CHP officer behind me a puzzling look I bet.

About 80 mph in my old Supra (600 HP) with a single
Honestly though, this car is the closest thing to that kind of power I have experienced since!
I love my new BEAST

btr3 - The Wagon has .4 sec on the Sedan to 60 MPH. Your not spinning the rear tires because the wagon is about 200 lbs. heavier in the rear, loading the rear tires better during accelleration. Thats a good thing! - Bob

It looks like those Toyo RA1's you are using on your E55 are doing the job (hooking up) as evidenced by the low 12 sec. 1/4 mile times you are experiencing! - Bob
