How to make your W211 drive like its 10 years newer
I had a radiator leak and one or our awesome members helped me swap it out (ended up being me watching him). After the install I comment about how the shop that did my long tubes could not code out the 02's. I was a bit frustrated but whatever. Turns out I had a dead 02 sensor. 5 minutes he had a new one in. That will probably fix my awkward idle issue and stumble every now and then. Reset the car via Xentry/STAR and take it for a drive. It already feels better (probably placebo affect). We drop it into first gear and nail it and something goes very wrong. Trans in limp mode, 2nd gear, etc, etc, etc.
We restart the car, talk about some glitch and we made it mad. So I leave and the car drives great, 30 minutes into the drive I notice something is not right. I go to pass somebody and BOOM, suddenly neutral gear. I look down and see I'm still in "D". I pull over and restart. Car is back to normal, as I'm merging I get locked into second gear and it's slipping horribly. I get a flashing CEL and run the codes. A P0715 pops up and I start to worry. Probably a conductor plate since it's a "sensor" that's throwing the code. I finally get home and park it. Didn't touch it until the next day when we go get breakfast. The next morning I go to start it, low battery functions message and won't even move. Finally get's into gear and we do a slow drive to the coffee shop. I park it until Monday.
The member (if he wishes to reveal his identity) drove from an hour away on his lunch break to take a look. We measure the fluid and BAM! A little over 2 quarts low. We top it off and all is well...the car pulls harder, shifts harder, feels and sounds better than ever. I have been tracking this car on low transmission fluid!!! I thought that's how it was supposed to shift I've always ridden in other W211's and commented how smoothly and quickly they shift. Mine was always a slow roll into the next gear with the occasional bouncing around harsh engagement. My car has been in many Mercedes Dealers and aftermarket performance shops, not a single person has checked, or commented on the shift quality.
Moral of the story...check your fluid levels. and thank your friends. My car now drives and shifts like it's 10 years newer.

WOW, smart guy without a doubt. The dealership is overrated. I know a guy who works there and he tells me the shop employs interns all the time, they don't have alot of experience and are learning.....ON PEOPLE'S CARS!! Just because the dealership is shiny and clean doesn't mean their work is. It's hard to find a good mechanic who is honest and smart and reliable but once you find them your life with be much easier.

My car would develop a stumble similar to having cam my car would develop a stumble similar to having cams and would default into a limp mode. We figured the dead O2 sensor was causing an issue since the car could not adjust fueling

This place is a joke.
So this guy is awesome because he replaced your radiator, then didn't check/correct your transmission fluid level afterwards? Do you not realize the radiator contains a transmission fluid heat exchanger which not only holds a certain amount of fluid, but also when the radiator is removed the trans. cooler lines also leak out additional fluid? And then you blame it on the multiple different shops you've been to in the past. (Likely shopping for the cheapest price)

*snip...nevermind***
I realize fluid comes out. I guess I/we failed to realized the 2.5QTS that dumped out. His fluid level was completely find after he did is the day before and could only assume mine was since it's been serviced at a major Mercedes/AMG dealer and goes through a "multi-point" inspection. They can tell me my trunk light is out but can't let me know I'm low on fluid...by the way the car shifts/engages now (post fill up) it had to of been low for months.
Just trying to get a good laugh and let everybody know to check their fluid levels...

No dealer or any place that I know of checks transmission fluid level as part of a multipoint inspection. Actually it's not even checked on a service it's not even listed on the service inspection sheet by benz. It's a "sealed" system and was originally meant to only be checked after a leak or internal repair and then capped with a tamper lock. Just so everyone knows this and checks their fluid rather than assuming someone else has already done it.

Does changing to TCU harness or 13-pin connector allow to fluid loss? Mine was leaking and had them replace it. Might be the roof cause of my fluid level. I never noticed a degradation in shift quality. It seemed a little better after the connector replacement

That is all subjective to proper fill level at initial inspection.I would like to see what MB trans cooler holds 1-1.5qt of fluid ? Most aftermarket coolers don't hold that much fluid. If you capped the lines upon removal like you are supposed to you would lose a minimal amount of fluid. Possibly a 1/4 of a qt.
You kids are missing the point. If you are not capable to repair, and have the proper knowledge of your vehicle. Let the pros do the work. Any moron can screw things up for you. Yes, that includes you the owner.
