Reading the threads and wondering is M5 a better car?
Not a click bait but reading some threads here and I saw people praising about M5 and saying they won't purchase AMG again because of not good enough after market support? (or AMG making it very hard to tamper with products)
So is the existing M5 or M6 somewhat better in drag races and or roll races? I've never been to a track and this is more of a bench racing lol but I just want to learn.
Does that have to do with parasitic AWD or DCT advantage? - new BMW will likely have AWD as well -wouldn't that bring it at same level as AMG then ?
Also, does Renntech tuned cars don't void warranty?
TIA

M5 could be good but it's still a BMW so it is usually plagued with bad dealers/lazy service workshop .. I had 5 BMWs and will never get another one again.
Not sure why you need aftermarket for AMG, it is quite perfect stock.

We can't decide preferences for other people. Everyone will think differently but there are some facts such as the M5 is easier/cheaper to mod because of the support and starting platform as Fairbird implied (and experienced). Out of the box the AMG gets the nod but if you're going to dabble in the aftermarket realm the M may be the way to go.
As for Renntech, just call dealers around you. One is likely to help and allow for Renntech mods and maintain warranty.
As for Audi, they offer what? RS5/RS7/R8... There really isn't a sedan in the mix. The S6 can be a stout car, but is no RS6. So to me, Audi doesn't really have that midsized power sedan.

What I have been reading here made me feel, you guys think M5 is a better drag and roll race car. For example tune to tune M5 could take on E63? Especially in a toll race? Like highway and all?
The new M550xi does 0-62 in 3.8 seconds and that isn't their M car. I assume new M5 with AWD will be a stout car.
I really like Rs7, the shape and design. I will even overlook the fact that it's 4 seater lol and I'm at a point in my life that I should only get a 5 seater but that and CLS look so nice *drool*
About BMW service, never experienced that but I went to look at M5 V10 before I got E55 and the sales man didn't even bother us asking us to sit. I was in work clothes but zero courtesy.
How is BMW better in aftermarket? Like what do they have and we don't?

I tend to think that I spend maybe 5% of the total miles driven in the car in hooligan mode. And for the other 95% of the time I would much rather have the AMG. I have always sort of regarded the M cars as what boi-racers grow into once they have the appropriate means. Where as the AMG will clip along and eat up the high very comfortably and quietly which all that power and torque just a throttle blip away. Personal preference really but I have always the the "special" cars in the following order AMG>RS>M.

The cars are very close in overall performance so it comes down to priorities and preferences with each having slight advantages over each other. For me the biggest difference maker was the AWD for the E63 S. But having had a FBO F10 M5, I would say "IMHO" the M5 had better technology and amenities rolled into the almost standard Executive Package, better transmission, and a more free revving engine. The E63 S has a better exhaust sound (and no need for the annoying synthetic sound being pumped into the interior), torqueier engine and aforementioned AWD system. Everything else is more about personal preference or aesthetics.

I'm a fan of the RS6 and the AMGs.

More curious how the M5 transmission is compared to ours. As in from the initial "no-delay" go, not how fast it shifts. I've been avoiding driving one forever now.

I'm on Audi forums and they have like couple of good tuners that's it. Maybe for lower models but RS7 i've only heard of APR , Unitronic and that's it. Maybe I'm not well versed ?
and what do you mean more options as in more brands doing more stuff for them? or easier to mod them? or cheaper after market products ?

Skinny TTrs 2.5 can be 1000 hp , mine 2.7 V6 was 900+ , S6/S7 700+ based on RS turbos runs pretty good .
More brands , more stuff and cheaper , so all of the above .

Look at the number of AMG, RS and M cars made/sold, then tell me which is more "special"... as in which car you will see more in the road. Unless you talking a few and VERY specific AMG models. Maybe if you replace Black Series for AMG then we are talking. AMG is nothing more that a new option package anymore.

I think they are close. AMG has extra torque while the M compensates with faster shifting, if both tuned it would be drivers race.
If going very deep into modding m5 will have more aftermarket potential to make it faster
lets wait and and see how the pureturbos e63 performs on the track for that.

the tech in the m550 is better than the 63; the handling is better in the 63 but the BMW is very fun to drive ... The BMW suspension is much more forgiving and truly is the better daily driving ride. It certainly is no beast in a tuxedo like the 63

m550 is ultra smooth and rather quiet compared to the 63 ... trans on BMW is silky smooth with traditional torque converter and no lag
