Sport Sedan Struggle: Mercedes’ C250 vs BMW’s 328i

Mercedes and BMW have been at each other’s throat’s for a long, long time. This time though, the competition isn’t taking place between their top-tiers: it’s at the bottom. The entry-level luxury car market is a hot one, and both Mercedes and BMW have new cars to send into the fray. In this episode of Motor Trend’s Head 2 Head, they take the two cars to the street to see which one comes out on top.

In theory, Mercedes is the underdog. Both are powered by turbocharged 4 cylinder motors, but the BMW has an edge in performance by about 40 hp. Of course, power is hardly the deciding factor in a car like this, so MotorTrend takes them to the snaking back roads of Malibu to see how they handle in the real world.

While the video is good, there’s one glaring issue. The base price for each car is roughly the same, but the BMW they tested costs almost 10 grand more than the Mercedes. You can buy a lot of comfort for 10,000 dollars, which makes us a little hesitant to take this test completely at it’s word.
