60-year Old Mercedes Barn Find Going to Auction
And it’ll be worth a pretty penny when it gets there. This extraordinarily rare 1927 ‘S’ Type Sports Tourer has been in the same family for the past 60 years. It wasn’t driven or left out to rot, but was instead garaged.
Until now, at least.
The coupe is completely original and works just as it should. That alone is amazing for any 60 year-old technology, much less something as complicated as a car. In it’s heyday, the S series were among the fastest cars you could buy, capable of maxing out at 100mph. Consider that for a second. Doing 100mph just after the turn of century. It was as super car in its own right and now, it’s simply super valuable.
They estimate the car will go for around $2.34 million dollars when it crosses the block in September. Though in reality, they’ll probably make a fair amount more than that.
