Drift Mode! The New Mercedes-AMG E63 S Certainly Looks Like Fun

Good to know that Mercedes-Benz hasn’t abandoned their diehard high-performance fans with all this recent talk about electric vehicles and pickups.

Not that the hot, new Mercedes X-Class pickup isn’t deserving of all the attention it’s been getting, or that we really thought the German carmaker would ever abandon their roots. But if given the option, I’m sure a lot of Mercedes enthusiasts here would prefer seeing a higher-performance MB vehicle whipping around the track.

If so, then this video featuring the new twin-turbocharged, 600-plus horsepower Mercedes-AMG E63 S (as highlighted in an AutoBlog report) should satisfy that itch. The one-minute clip is also visual proof that the performance limitations of the all-wheel-drive vehicle are essentially what you make of them.

Clearly, the Drift Mode feature on the Mercedes-AMG E63 S, which transitions all the power to the sedan’s rear wheels, is a smoking example of that.
