Tuned AMG GT S Trounces Modified Nissan GT-R on Runway Race

What happens when the AMG GT S takes on a Nissan GT-R? Well, since you’re reading this on MBWorld and not a Nissan website, you can probably take a guess as to who comes out victorious. Before you start the video below though, you should know that the playing field is pretty even, perhaps even tilted in the GT-R’s favor. Both cars are tuned, but the GT-R is fitted with a modified intake exhaust.

The video is short, but it gets the point across. With only an ECU upgrade from RENNtech, the GT S can abscond its way ahead of the Nissan while staying quiet, comfortable, and relatively stock. Granted, the GT S is a fairly-new design, and the GT-R in the R35 form has been around since 2007.

The Nissan is showing its age now, and while it used to be the performance bargain to have in your garage, technology has been its life support along its 10-year production run. But that technology has also been steadily raising the GT-R’s MSRP as well. With cars like the AMG GT S encroaching (and exceeding) the performance of the Nissan, you have to wonder what Nissan is planning with the R36.
