Mercedes Owner Explains Why He Let His S-Class Go

By -

Have an S-Class, but want something new? Getting out of a lease early is possible, but you’ll still need to use some tricks.

With more than one million subscribers, chances are you’ve seen a video from the YouTube channel Vehicle Virgins at one time or another. In this particular one, a YouTuber by the name of Parker Nirenstein speaks highly of his beloved S-class but also shows why it’s just time for it to go.

Nirenstein explains why he bought it in the first place, which is summed up by location and needs. “I lived in Michigan, and during the winter there was snow everywhere and the roads were not the best.” That’s a great reason to have an S550 equipped with 4MATIC, but he also drove quite often for his videos so a big Mercedes that’s comfortable on long journeys was also important.

Unique Customization

Throughout his ownership, he blacked out some of the chrome and got a set of different wheels, and eventually fell in love with the car so much, he named it Ariana. But a rapid up-tick in popularity created new opportunities for him (and prompted a move from Michigan to California), so he began looking for “something else with daily driver ability, but was also crazy fast.”

What replaced it? Nirenstein stayed loyal to Mercedes-Benz, and picked up an AMG E63s. But this is more than just a story of a sold car.

Transferring the Lease

We are told that rather than actually selling the S550, he’s actually just transferring the lease. It may be a technicality, but it’s still an important one to note. Especially since so many people might be stuck in a lease they just don’t want any more. Not only does it work for someone trying to get out of a lease, but there’s also incentives for people who want to take over someone else’s lease and save a ton vs what would be paid for a brand new car.

We could have an entirely different discussion on buying vs leasing vs buying a used car vs buying a used lease, but that’s entirely down to a case-by-case basis most of the time.
