AMG Mustang

How to make a Mustang faster? Put an AMG engine in it, of course. One UK garage did that and the result is amazing.

When it comes to engine swaps, the GM LS motor wins. Tuners, tinkerers and home-mechanics throw that engine in everything. But what if you wanted to do something a little different? That’s exactly what the folks at Anarchy Garage did with this Mustang. Jamie Sonuga from the Officially Gassed YouTube channel was going to find out what it was all about.

Based on seeing it at MBWorld, you can guess that it has Mercedes power, and you’re right. “We got the engine from a 2012 E63 AMG” says Slater, from Anarchy Garage. As for the car, it is an original 1969 shell. But Mustang fans don’t need to fret, as the car was in a pretty decrepit state according to Motor1, and was not a numbers matching car. So why not build something wild with it?

And wild it is. 721 hp emanates from the M157 AMG V8, and terminates at zoomie pipes that exit just behind the front wheel. Drivetrain stays stock, with power directed only to the rear wheels. But this car has all the modern underpinnings of the E63. Subframes are swapped and fabricated to work within the original Mustang’s dimensions. Suspension is fully adjustable and can change on the fly, but they don’t say if it is from the E-class or a bespoke unit. Tiny aesthetics have been addressed here and there, with flushed trim and deleted side markers part of the overall package. The only part that sits oddly is the AMG front bumper.

Inside, it’s more Mercedes. Everything but the headliner done by Anarchy Garage, although there’s some evidence that they had to take some creative measures to get the E-class dashboard to fit. Seats are plucked from the A-class, and likely fit much better than the large seats from the E-class. One thing not from the e-class? Seat belts. You get just a lap belt with this car. It’ll make you feel alive, that’s for sure.

That’s especially true in the conditions where it was tested. In the wet, and with just RWD, this Mustang still does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. “At first it may look like a gimmick, but it is not a gimmick,” remarks Songua. Dry conditions? It’d likely beat a good number of supercars. But that’s the AMG way,
