2013 SL Recalled Over Flammable Refrigerant
Mercedes normally stays well out of the recall messes that plague other manufacturers, but their new SL is suffering from an issue that reminds me of a more… Italian marquee.  It’s being recalled due to a potential fire risk in the air conditioning system.

They switched over to a new type of refrigerant designed to be more environmentally friendly than the old one. Under testing, they discovered that if the refrigerant is sprayed at high pressure on hot objects, it could ignite. Say for instance a front

All 2013 SLs built between December 2011 and May 2012 are being recalled. The refrigerant will be replaced by the old, slightly less eco-friendly stuff that doesn’t catch fire. 432 cars are being recalled and owners will be notified about it sometime this month. Until then, business as usual. Just don’t crash into anything.
