The new W205 C-Class coupe is just starting to make the rounds at auto shows, and already, the C-Class convertible version is about to officially break cover. The Geneva Motor Show, host of many debuts, will very likely see the unveiling of this new model. The current drive-train will carry over, with the C300 having Mercedes’ 2.0 litre turbo 4-cylinder engine in the entry model.

In terms of higher trim lines, we know that the AMG Sport Line has been killed off, so there’s rumor that there will be a C43 AMG outfitted with a twin turbo V6 and a C63 AMG version with the legendary turbo V8. Judging by the pictures here, this black cabrio is the C43 version, given the more aggressive, but not quite AMG level front bumper, and quad tailpipes. The C43 would essentially be a re-badged C450 as Mercedes re-adjusts its model naming. If this is true, that represents a first in the Mercedes showroom where there will be two different levels of AMG performance in the same chassis available side by side.

Once the car is officially unveiled on March 1, we’ll bring you the news as it happens.
