Tired of plugging your iPhone into your car to use Apple CarPlay? Now there’s an answer for those who enjoy going wireless.

Apple CarPlay is a blessing for iPhone owners. But at the moment, the system has one major flaw — an iPhone must physically be connected to the vehicle through a USB cable. While that’s a minor gripe, it does get annoying, especially if you’re prone to forget things. Well, Alpine has unveiled a new head unit that allows iPhone users to connect to Apple CarPlay. And according to Motor Authority you don’t need a USB.

Alpine’s new head unit, the iLX-107, allows CarPlay fans to ditch their USB cords. The unit pairs with a user’s iPhone via a 5.0 gigahertz WiFi connection. Users control it through the unit’s 7.0-inch touchscreen display. After the initial setup, the iLX-107 will automatically pair to the user’s smartphone when the car starts up.

Allowing iPhone users to go wireless isn’t the iLX-107’s only party piece. Motor Authority reports that users can connect other systems to the head unit, too. An optional system called iDatalink Maestro also allows users to access their vehicle’s OBDII information. Other accessories, including a motorized tonneau cover and gauges can be controlled, too.

Unsurprisingly, it’s an expensive unit. The iLX-107 starts at $900, which is a large chunk of money. But adding Apple CarPlay to an older vehicle and being able to connect one’s iPhone without a USB has plenty of upsides.
