Ridin’ low in a Bagged Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG

When the factory active suspension repair bills got out of control, this Benz owner decided to take matters into his own hands. The result? A low but not slow Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG.

Before the S-Class Coupe existed, the flagship Mercedes Coupe was the CL-Class, and more specifically the AMG model—the CL55 AMG. Powerful, sleek, luxurious, and with a presence unlike any other, the CL cruised on back roads and highways in the utmost German manner while surrounding its occupants in cutting-edge technology and performance.

The downside of all that? Ultra-expensive maintenance. Should one of the many high-tech electronics or pneumatic systems go out on the CL; you’re looking at a $10k repair bill. Since these things happen, Brandon (owner), did away with the factory active suspension setup, and replaced it with a fully adjustable airbag system. Brandon says he “likes to ride low,” so the airbag setup was a no-brainer.

Besides the airbags, Brandon performed further engine tweaks which netted him an extra 50 to 60 horsepower. Considering the stock CL55 AMG featured around 495 ponies, adding extra ones certainly guaranteed a very, very fast ride.

Our man, Matt Farah from The Smoking Tiretakes us for a ride in this bagged CL and you can’t miss it!
