Beautiful Mercedes Isdera Imperator at Spa-Francorchamps

The headline says “beautiful,” but as they say, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” And if I were the beholder of this Isdera Imperator, I’d certainly think it is shapely in a most pleasant way. If the shape does look familiar to you, it is no coincidence, as the design engineer responsible for this car, Eberhard Schulz, was formerly a design engineer for Mercedes. It is no surprise that the Imperator bears more than a striking resemblance to the more widely known run of Mercedes C111 experimental cars.

Though exclusively powered by Mercedes V8 units, it never was officially recognized as a Mercedes production model, thus being manufactured under Schulz’s brand of Isdera. Production run was very low, and your likelihood of seeing one in person is about the same odds of winning the recent PowerBall lottery, which makes this video extra awesome. How often can you see and hear an Imperator driven in anger? Well, that’s exactly what we have here. Startup, rev, and laps of Belgium’s infamous Spa-Francorchamps circuit provides the perfect area to unleash this supercar. Just make sure you plug into your good audio system before you hit play!
