Brabus Makes Big Splash in Monaco with 700 Widestar

By -

Debuting at the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show, the Brabus 700 Widestar turns up the heat on the AMG G63’s luxury and performance.

Brabus has been the master of turning Benzes into autobahn bombers since the late 1970s. Whether it’s dropping Formula One technology into the engine bay, or draping the interior with luxury amenities for days, no other Mercedes tuner does it like Brabus.

And today is no acception. Brabus Germany recently unveiled its take on the Mercedes-AMG G63 at the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show back in late September 2018 in, of course, Monaco: the Brabus 700 Widestar.

The AMG G63’s 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 is given a big performance boost as the 700 Widestar, jumping from 563 horses and 561 lb-ft of torque to 700 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. Ferried through the nine-speed automatic, all of that power is good enough to push the wagon from zero to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds, topping out at 149 mph.

With one part of its name fulfilled, the 700 Widestar matches the rest of its namesake with the Widestar body kit, which happen to drape over the 23-inch Platinum Edition Monoblock Y wheels fitted over the slotted and cross-drilled disc brakes. The kit will definitely make stepping into the 700 Widestar’s interior a breeze.

And what an interior it is. The Brabus 700 Widestar has tons of leather, from the quilted door and seat panels, to the dash and center console. Whatever isn’t leather is trimmed in chrome and aluminium. And speaking of metal, the stainless steel dual side exhausts are controlled from the inside, allowing you grumble past the paparazzi or put the fear of Brabus into them.

Other features on the Brabus 700 Widestar include a roof-mounted LED light bar, 305/35-section tires, and a big power bulge on the hood. The first examples for sale could hit the United States as soon as next spring, though there’s still no word on how much this beast will cost.
