CarThrottle’s 10 Loves of Petrolheads (Plus 5 More for AMG)

The crazy kids over at Car Throttle have put together a video that describes ten things that gearheads love, but “normals” tend to hate. Like driving a manual transmission, doing hand brake turns, and of course, drifting. While the list is fun, and the video below is entertaining, I thought of a few more things that sort of fit this idea, but are unique to AMG owners. Take a look at my list of things that AMG drivers love that normals and non-AMG drivers hate, and then feel free to let me know if there was anything else I should have added.

1. Hearing the unmistakable roar of the M159 V8 as it wakes the neighbors.

For some reason, neighbors seem to hate the world’s greatest alarm clock.

2. Laughing at Corvette and Shelby fanboys because the C63 Black is a better muscle car than anything America has made.

Look, it’s not our fault the Germans out muscle-car’d America. People also hate when you say America should just try harder.

3. Talking about Mercedes’ total and utter dominance of Formula 1.

Fans of other teams just hate hearing about how badly they are losing. People who don’t watch racing hate hearing about racing.

4. Discussing the general history of the automobile, which was started by Benz, of course.

With such a long and rich history, it is easy to spend hours talking about it, but “normals” tend to find that very boring.

5. Chuckling quietly to ourselves in fast cars with luxurious cabins while other companies are forced to strip cabins and remove options to make their sports cars faster.

Nobody likes a braggart, but it’s hard to be quiet when someone’s new Camaro comes with no stereo and no air conditioning, and they still can’t beat your AMG.
