Mercedes-AMG E63 S vs Porsche Panamera Turbo: Track Battle
As the Mercedes-AMG E63 S arrives in Europe, we’re starting to see the first comparison videos released.
The first showdown featuring the hottest E-Class yet comes from the UK publication Auto Express. They took a Mercedes-AMG E63 S and a Porsche Panamera Turbo out on the track to cook up some flying lap times. Llandow Circuit is a small, tight track that rewards great balance, grip and braking: The perfect ingredients needed to create a genuine challenge for these bulky, heavy executive brutes.
Both cars feature turbocharged V8s, slick semi-automatic gearboxes and sophisticated all-wheel drive systems as standard. But on paper, the Mercedes-AMG E63 S is the car you should put your money on. It has more power on tap (603 horsepower going up against the Porsche’s 542 horses), more torque, and less weight to manage.
But you can’t count the Panamera Turbo out. Over time, we’ve seen the consistent ability Porsche has to make big cars handle well. A lightning lap from the Panamera is definitely not out of the question.

We have to admit the Panamera Turbo is an absolute beast of a car, but of course the E63 S is the one we’d choose. It sounds incredible and looks like a riot to drive. All that plus the added bonus of looking gorgeous while remaining a bit of a sleeper.
So which of these four door titans was actually faster? You’ll have to watch the video yourself to see the result.
