If you’re a fan of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the elective vehicle craze, then you’ll definitely find this bit of news interesting.

According to Trucks.com, MB is exploring the idea of producing an EV version of their commercial van. In fact, if you read between the lines, it seems like the vehicle is pretty much a done deal.

“I see there is growing demand in the market,” said Volker Mornhinweg, director of Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz Vans division. “In the near future, I see this demand will rise.”

The speculation is that the Sprinter EVs could arrive by the end of the decade. But as you might expect, Europe would probably be the primary market first. Of course, that doesn’t’ mean that we couldn’t eventually see the Sprinter EVs in the U.S. After all, the electric commercial vans would probably have a lot of appeal in the States, don’t you think?
