Johnny Cash’s 1991 Mercedes S-Class Listed for $30,000 on Craigslist

Earlier this week, Mercedes Benz tweeted out a Craigslist link for a visually clean 560 SEL Mercedes for $30,000. No specifications, odometer readings, service history, or description of the vehicle’s actual condition.

But most importantly, it belonged to the late and great Man in Black, Johnny Cash. A fitting car. Closer reading of the Craigslist post indicates the car will be sold through Treasures of Ojai, which is handling the sale of items belonging to (the estate of) Johnny and June Carter Cash.

Jalopnik also found a video of Cindy Cash (Johnny’s daughter and the one in charge of liquidating the estate’s belongings) describing some of the items as part of the large estate sale (which by the time you read this will have happened over the weekend from January 10th – 11th).

And here’s an interesting comparison from Opposite Lock: Would you rather have Cash’s clean but commonplace Benz (great, sturdy luxury workhorses in their own right) for $30,000 or Neil Young’s 1978 Eldorado for $15,000? Apples to oranges comparison, but something to consider for anyone looking to purchase themselves some classic cruisers belonging to late great musicians.
