Koenig Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG Holds a Sweet Interior Treat

It’s not the gold BBS wheels that make this 1984 Koenig Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG “Widebody” special. Nor is it the muscle-car-like exhaust. Nor is it the 400 horsepower. Nor is it the fact that it has less than 20,000 miles on it. Nor is it the slotted hips. No, what makes this AMG special is the interior, which includes snakeskin door paneling and flannel flooring.

We kid… sort of. Everything about this car is special. The look alone, especially for a car built in the ’80s, is magnificent. The sleek line that shoots straight through, the open windows, the extremely low and wide nose, it all works together so well. It’s rare that a widebody looks this appropriate, and this good.

At the time, AMG still hadn’t been absorbed by Mercedes-Benz, so this car was tuned, then it was worked on again by Koenig. Upon release, it featured a V8 that put out close to 400 horsepower, which might not seem like a lot now, but this thing was still quite muscular. Did we mention it has a fridge built into the rear middle seat?

Of course special doesn’t come cheap, and this Koenig Special will cost you upwards of $222,000.

If you’re more of a visual person, here’s a reminder what this thing can do, even before it was reworked by Koenig.
