In a very shrewd move — one I think has some ulterior motives — the new SL400 is getting a $20,000 price drop.

The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, with its slab sides and butch, safe-like lines, may appear impenetrable, but it’s not. Like every normal automobile, it’s at the mercy of small-arms fire … until you take it to Inkas Armored Vehicle Manufacturing.

One of our forum members from Australia, “GRP”, is lucky enough to own a 2010 C63 AMG (pictured above). Unfortunately, no amount of horsepower under the bulging hood — not even 451 — is enough to get the super sedan across the vast expanse of water between his home country and the good ol’ U.S. of A.

Poor, unfortunate “pugads650”. He took his E55 to a garage for “a new supercharger bearing belt and miss fire [sic] issue.” It was misfiring, all right – starting in the passenger-side footwell.

Even while they’re standing still, it’s obvious that the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and 300SL, with their long hoods, short decks and gullwing doors, share some attractive genes. The video after the jump makes it clear that they also have similar voices.

Oh, (John) Deere. This isn’t even fair. A family four-door towing a trailer and a lawn tractor versus a sports car in a drag race. That poor Nissan 350Z owner.

It’s fitting that the man in the clip below is called Shmee. That’s probably the sound he made when he first put the hammer down in the Gemballa-modified Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.
