Ultra-clean Mercedes SL55 Takes Home MB World Featured Car Honors

FCOTM-winning Mercedes SL proves that you don’t have to throw a bunch of mods at your car to make it cool.

Everyone has their own unique opinion on what makes a car cool. Some like them heavily modified, slammed to the ground, or stuffed with massive levels of power. Others like flashy paint jobs or stanced wheels. But to us, there’s not much better than a super clean, original Mercedes with a few tasteful mods. Take MBWorld forum member Nor Cal SL55‘s beautiful Capri Blue roadster, for example. This classy SL took home our Featured Car of the Month honors simply because it’s an immaculate example of the fine breed.

Each month, we ask our members to submit their rides for consideration. After that, forum members vote for their favorite, and a winner is then chosen. That decision is rarely easy, obviously. But everyone fell in love with this classy roadster and its gorgeous color. The 2007 model year SL barely looks like it’s ever been driven, a testament to the owner’s love for it. And when was the last time you saw one of these cars in Capri Blue, anyway?

One of just 583 examples produced for the U.S. in 2007, this clean Mercedes is essentially perfect as is. Heck, it already has a healthy supercharged engine producing 510 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. But the owner of this beauty has also added a 77mm clutched pulley with scatter shield and a custom tune for a bit more boost. An additional heat exchanger keeps things cool, while ceramic coating helps protect that gorgeous paint.

Most everything else here is stock. But given the level of options Mercedes bestowed these cars with, that’s perfectly fine. We’re not really sure why anyone would want to change things like those timeless 19″ AMG 5-spoke wheels, anyway. So it’s no surprise that the OP’s future plans for the car include nothing more than driving and enjoying it as is.

Yes, sometimes it’s best to leave cars alone, as this Mercedes proves. But still, we like to scope out the many diverse rides our members own. So be sure and head over here to see how you can enter your Mercedes for Featured Car of the Month status. Who knows, maybe you’ll be the next one to experience a little internet fame!
