Mercedes G-Wagen Kicks Butt at Luxury Tug-of-War!
Tug-of-war with a G-Class is probably always going to end in defeat.
While some might scoff at the sight of a G-Class, calling it a “mall crawler” due to the popular demographic of owners, there’s still no denying that it’s a bad, bad truck. But what happens when you put it in a tug-of-war with another heavy hitter in the luxury off-road category? Well, you get this delightful Instagram video.
With a rope tied between a G63 AMG and a Land Rover, the test couldn’t be more simple, and the outcome couldn’t be more clear. From the start, it wasn’t even a contest. The AMG owner must have switched on all of the AMG’s locking differentials, because it yanks the Land Rover like it was on a patch of ice.
One contributing factor could be that it appears to be raining, but this just highlights why the G-Wagon is superior. Unlike 0-60, 1/4-mile tests, and MPG ratings, a tug-of-war is not an industry standard test, which frankly, is a shame. We could watch these for days.
So, while your Land Rover might look great in a Van Maur parking lot, just remember, if someone in a G-Wagon wants that parking spot, they know how to get it.
