Weistec-Prepared G63 AMG 6X6 Is the Best Form of Lunacy

If there is one thing I love more than any other, it is a slightly obnoxious display of automotive power. It is the very purpose of machines like the McLaren P1, or the Mercedes-Benz SLS. They just strive for more: more power, more speed, more money. That is why I love the Mercedes G63 6×6. It takes a proven off-road platform, and just cranks it way past 11 all the way to WTF. And then you get a company like Weistec that grabs the G63 6×6 and upgrades the turbo, exhaust, transmission, and they slap a big, beastly tune on it. It is unnecessary in the absolute best way.

The result of that insanity is 850 horsepower and 900 lb-ft of torque. Of course, you need that much power just to make the thing move. According to Weistec, the damn thing weighs more than 9,000 pounds. Yeah, four and a half tons. Again, its just more of everything. It is glorious. The only thing it doesn’t get more of is fuel economy. It ekes out a paltry 9 mpg in the city, and between us, I think that is being a little optimistic.

There is no price quoted, but I assume it’s a classic case of “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it.” Still, you can get a look at it in action thanks to the dramatic video Weistec posted on YouTube, which is handily included below. Enjoy.
