Why You’ll Have to Wait for the SLS AMG’s Successor

The Porsche 911-fighting Mercedes Benz C190 a.k.a. AMG GT, a.k.a. SLC may succeed the SLS AMG, but it will not be its official successor … let’s face it, how can a sports car succeed a supercar? That’s like replacing David Letterman with a local cable-access personality to host the Late Show.

AMG’s former CEO Ola Källenius recently spoke to motoring.com.au, saying it would be a while before we’d see another supercar from AMG.

“It’s not something you just do one after the after,” Källenius said. “I am not suggesting we should wait 55 years to do the next gullwing car, but certainly not straight after the one we have done now. That needs to sit in automotive history as its own chapter.”

Motoring says it’s unlikely a Mercedes SLS AMG successor would arrive before 2020.

We don’t know how much longer the current SLS AMG will remain in production, but Källenius said, “If you want to buy one strike now!”

Sleepy heads go by.
