Help My Car Will Not Start
I have a 95 S 500 coupe and it has a bad habit of not starting. And now it is like evry other day instaed of once or twice a month. It is something to do with the starter disable. But what causes it and how can it be fixed. Am I the only one?

Did you try changing the batteries in your key? i had the same problem with my S320. I took it to the shop, 12 bucks (for batteries) and 1 hour of labor later (75 bucks) they told me that the batteries in the laser key needed to be changed......good times.
heh, since then ive had that problem once more so now i just use the valet key because i realised god hates me and always drains my batteries in the laser key (i went through the same deal with my 97 s600 as well....heh.)
i hope this helped

You have to be more specific, does it turn over? fuel (like pump or filters) spark (rotors caps wiring), timing (like crankshaft sensor)
If it does not turn over ign. switch, relay, or a multitude of things. I think yours still has a key so dont chase the remote issue there is a lock out relay for the alarm.

This morning i walked to work. came home and guess what this afternoon it starts.Should I go to dinner and have to spend the night in a parking lot like i did this weekend or not?

I got mine to start I held the key to start and I got to the point where it started, it seemed to work fine after that. It's not ideal but if you really get stuck then it seems to work.

Help my car will not start
Hey guys The problem has been found and is being fixed. The reason my car was not starting was that the "lower wiring harness" that has a wire going to the starter, nuetral start swicth and sevral others had several places where the wiring was exposed."naked wires" and it was inducing aground and not allowing the vechile to start. Non of that open the trunk or giggle the shift lever or replace the remote or batteries in the remote. The thing costs $250.00 and about 4 hours of labour But the problem is solved

Recently I have noticed that sometimes my car has a similar behavior: when I turn the key to start, there is silence for e.g. half a second to a second - very short - (while normally it should strat to turn immediately) and then suddenly with the key being kept at start position it normally starts, as usual.
What can be the reason?
Maybe some contacts near the key (as indicated in the threads here - quite an obvious issue that can be relatively easily cured)?
I also thought that maybe the starter is not enagaging imemdiately and just waits for e.g. some more current to flow?
BUT: how can we explain this delay (fraction of second of silence) occuring and then out of the blue it goes normally??? What is it waiting for?
Any comments?
To date it had not affected the ability to start, but I fear that one day the silence will be longer and longer, and one day it will not turn at all...

FYI for what it's worth - I have heard that worn motor mounts (this is generic info and not specific to W140s) can affect the transmission shift linkage and thus the park-neutral lock-out switch. Symptom can be exaggerated when parking on a hill.

Mine turned out to be the netural safety switch it had water in it, I park on a hill where I live so the car cooled overnight and got water in there when I drove it and ususally parked on the flat for example in a carpark in town the water had boiled off due to engine and gearbox heat so the hill really had nothing to do with it in my case but motor mounts is something I did look into. Thanks for the info though.
