I have not done much work on cars before, but i am not afraid to try. I was planing to lower my MB, i have gas dempers. How can i do this? Do i need to buy new dempers or can i modify those i have? If i need new dempers what type do i need? I am waiting for new rims that will be 17" with tires 215/40 ( http://www.alcar.de/563_DE.0?webdid=...vid=4&webbid=0 ) They are starting to make them in mid May . I think the MB now is to high and it looks funny, so therfore i want to get it a bit lower. Anyone that can give me some tips or help here?

Changing the ride height on the W201 is done exclusively via the coil springs and to a lesser extent, the spring pads located at the top of the coils. The struts and shocks do not affect ride height, however "sport" struts and shocks should be used when using lowering springs.
I would suggest getting your new wheels and tires fitted before lowering, so that you can "fine tune" the final settings with thinner spring pads, provided that the ones you currently have aren't the smallest/thinnest.
