Question Help! My 190E 2.6 keeps stalling when hot!

I have a 190E 2.6 ('87 model) but,.....it has a stalling problem which it has had since I've owned it! I've taken it to Merc specialists and they can't work it out ?....one of them suggested it was a problem with the chip....but, I don't believe this model had a management chip???...the other suggestion is that seeing as it only happens in hot or warmer weather it is a problem with idle management......(by the way I'm in Australia) as the vehicle is tuned for milder summers??? Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it? or can anyone assist in a solution?

Does it stall when idling or driving or both?

I live in the blazing heat of Arizona and don't have this problem.

But does your fan come on when the engine get's hot? Perhaps there is a system that won't allow the engine to get too hot and thus cut's it off (?)

stalling!..

It happens when I pull up to an intersection or stopping at traffic lights, generally after med to high revs once I take my foot off the accelerator and apply brakes and the car is at a complete stop, the revs drop with no attempt to come back up and the engine just dies. It rarely happens at low revs and to avoid stalling I have been gearing down on approach.

I did adjust the idle and it stopped doing it briefly!.......

Hi... not sure what you adjusted on 'idle' but these cars are electronically idle controled as such and only adjustment i'm aware of is the air/fuel flow body mixture. Having said that, it brings me to my 190E 2.0 '89 model. I too had the problem of the car stalling at intersections when dropping back to idle speed. If you check at the cable linkage on the airmixure flow body on top of the throttle body, you should find a micro switch that the linkage depresses upon idle rest position. I found that my switch had very slightly moved away from the position and as the engine tried to return to idle speed i depressed the switch manually and it idle perfectly fine... so i adjusted the switch closer to insure that it makes and breaks contacts as requiered for correct engine operations. Other than that i would look at the electronic unit thats integrated in the airflowbody by checking correct measures with a multimeter.
I hope i have been of help....

try the following
fill it up with premium
add an octane booster to your tank
start parking facing downhill
get a new fuel accumulator and replace it (by the pump)
get a new fuel pressure regulator and replace it (by the distributor)

Getting it now too

Ok, Now I'm getting the same problem too.

It happens after you are slowing the vehicle down approaching an intersection and turning into a parking place.

The fuse that tracks the engine RPM is out again and I haven't replaced it. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Sometimes I can hear the fuel pump making a buzzing sound so maybe it's on it's way out.

But I've got this problem now 2 times in a span of 2 weeks.

Speed Sensor

I don't know if you guys have fixed your problems or not, but the problem is with the speed sensor on the back of the instrument cluster. Maybe it will help others with this problem as all 190E's with this sensor will need it replaced.

This sensor is used to tell the idle control to add fuel when returning to idle engine speeds.

Other symptoms are:

-Cruise control not functional or intermittent
-Speed dependent volume on radio not functional (original becker radio)

the part number is 0075422917

may be called speed sensor or hall-effect sensor and costs around $45

Which move point A to point B.
check your fuel divider. as for my knowledge 190e engine has fuel divider it works almost like a EFI. on 190e fuel divider gonna make the car in unstable condition.
