If you ask me synthetic oil is no good for old cars, only new ones. Mine is a 1989 and I use conventional 20w 50. Conventional just has more minerals or something in it that the older engines are designed to have present, go to synthetic and it may or may not have an effect on your car in the long run.

Anyone use that oil that is suposed to be "elastic" where it rebonds with the closest oil providing continued lubrication or something better then reuglar oil. I forgot who makes it. Penzoil or GTX I think.

#2go to synthetic and it may or may not have an effect on your car in the long run.
#1 Not true. The only cases where this applies are the Low SAPS oils designed to meet MB Spec 229.51. There are so few of these oils anyway, and they are nearly impossible to find.

#2 It will have affect your engine, it will run better (smoother and more efficient) in the short run, and last longer in the long run.

It may cause a few oil leaks. After I switched to Mobil 1, the rear main started leaking. It is not real bad, but one of these days I will get around to replacing it, but then I have said that for almost three years.
