1986 190E 2.3 US auto Starter test/removal
Is there enough room to remove the starter out the bottom, or do I need to disconnect tie rods ?
It looks very tight in there.
Also:
the bracket that holds the 'front' of the starter: how many screws/bolts and what size ?, is it easier to remove with the bracket, so where and how is IT attached ?
BTW my 190E is 2.3 4 cylinders, 147K MILES, automatic,1986
Original reason for changing starter: I am told the solenoid is fried (how can you even tell?). the car doesn't make a sound when Ignition lock/switch is turned.
(It's not battery related), but maybe safety neutral switch related: same in neutral, where would I find the SN-switch ?
thanks all
