1986 190E 2.3-16 EVOII
Im new here... intros please!

wish I had theme music....

I just purchased a 1986 190E 2.3-16 EVOII. The car is beautiful. It just had a new style tensioner installed. So im hoping its going to be happy for a long time.

Where areoud here may I find performance upgrades?

Also! Will standard wheels fit over these brakes for snow tires?

Little about me:
-I sell subarus in wallingford, CT
-I owned a 1991 legacy turbo which i had the snot modded out of it, all done by my own wrench turning hands.
-I am great with turning wrenches, and machine work, but with electronics, I need help.
-I enjoy auto-xing, and track days
-I am hoping this car will be formidable and also tunable!

The Ebay car!

I saw bidding ended early. nice purchase. Did the guy do a nice job on the conversion kit. It looked nice from the pics. Did yougo more than $5500, we share everything around here.

Also check out www.190revolution.net when its back up and working and another site is www.mbnz.org and look for the 201 or 190E forum.

later, congrats and welcome.

how did you know I got that one?

are there that few of those cars in the states? I hope this car is everything I hope it to be...

It seems to be quite unique. the conversion seems to be great. the 300+ hours in the paint booth shoes on the flawless paint job. its like glass...

Its just missing the drivers side mirror adjustor... thats a tiny issue. past that everything works perfectly. he said the engine has the chain tensioner update, but past that, they are bullet proof.

so where do I go for performance parts?

Personally I paid 9000.. I think th paint job alone was worth that much. I worked in a body shop and the work was immaculate. kits perfect... I really like this car... I am picking it up on wed.

The Evo and EVO II were never brought to the US for sale and since only 502 of each were made for racing homolgation, they were all sold in Europe. They were equiped with different versions of the 2.5-16 engine, the largest allowed in DTM racing at the time. Important to note, they were not just 16 valve models with a body kit, they were designed with different suspension pieces, including driver adjustable ride height at all four wheels, so that front splitter doesn't get trashed in town.

There are quite a few W201s with Evo II kits in the USA, including a diesel powered one, 2.3 8 valve and 2.3-16s. I haven't heard of a 2.6L with a kit . . . yet.

Evo II kits range in price from sub $1K (from Indonesia) to over $2.5K from Erebuni and 190teile.de, who also sells the Evo I kit. Reiger sells their version called the Evo 3 through RPI in Canada.

BTW, EVO II kits are a lot of work. The wheel arches require that the wheel wells be cut to a larger radius and there is a serious amount of blending and shaping, no matter what kit you buy. Just the bodywork to add the pieces will probably run you $2-3K at a good shop, unless you DIY with your own bodywork skills and tools. The there's the paint . .

"How did you know...?"

I think everyone on these boards looks for the rare day something like that shows up on ebay. Just to further
expand on MTI's point...that wasn't an EVO on ebay and if it was think more like 90K for an emmaculate EVOII. It looked nice none theless...I wish I had the artistic ability to modify a car like 2phast et al. Thats a hobby I could lose a lot of cash on.

ENJOY the car

what kind of suspension is in the car? Did he mod the brakes at all? I did like the wheels...what make were they?
