Dumb questions from a first time 190E owner

Hey everyone,

Just joined the forum recently and decided that this is the perfect time to post dumb questions regarding my 190e:

1. Exterior roof trim/window trim: is there a place to get replacements? Can I still get these pieces from a dealer/or shop?

2. Regarding lowering springs...is there any specific springs that work for the 190e 2.3 8v? I saw a few springs options but they seem to be for the 23-16 or the larger displacement....Also, I heard it's common for folks to cut their springs are cutdown 300e springs to get rid of wheel gap.

Please be gentle.

Welcome. The MB Classic Center in California can help you with the trim pieces. They don't recommend any lowering of your car by cutting down the shocks, etc.

ecs tuning online has a lot of parts you cant get anywhere else for the 190e. It is very common to cut the springs. A lot of people hate on this but done right with a stiffer spring it will have no negative effect on the car. you can buy spring for the 2.3 no 16. look up the part on the HR website. I have some old vogtland springs for the 2.3 also.

Just don't forget that if you cut a coil off a spring, it will not only be lower, but also stiffer. (Fewer coils to be bent on compression.)

The W210 wasn't the softest ride to begin with. . .

FYI, the OP has a W201 and not a W210.

Sorry - my typo. I actually meant W201. I've never owned a W210. . .

Row52.com

You can check a yard in your area
occasionally 190s are brought in
great for getting little parts in better condition than your own. Recently got a great “new” armrest
