Question Any Experiences with Brake Pads ?

Greetings.

I'm in the market for a new set of brake pads for my 89 190E (2.6). I checked an online supplier and found more varieties than I could have imagined. Does anyone have a good recommendation and/or experience with a specific type, brand and supplier ?

Thanks.

I have heard that bekkers sells good pads. (I know they sell a couple of brands but thats all I know). I had some pads and discs put on a 190D by a local shop (I dont know the brand) but I do alot of interstate commuting, 30 miles a day, and do alot of 60-0 stops. They never last more than a year. I hope that helps somewhat.

I used PBR (Axxis) Metal Masters on my W201 and they worked great, both on the street and the track, no noise, very little dust and great bite with no fade. Very inexpensive as well.

Thanks for the Responses.

I ended up ordering the Axxis Metal Masters. We'll see how it goes...

Brake pads

I would have considered Textar as my choice in Brake Pads. They do make OEM pads for Mercedes. Also Pagid and ATE make a good pad. I have used them all and can tell you that if you do alot of stop and go driving you will wear any brand of brake pad down.

Too funny.

The Axxis fronts turned up as "Out of stock - backorder" and would have held the rest of the shipment up. Since it was a tossup between Textar and Axxis, I changed the order to Textar . Well, it's nice to get reassurance...

BTW, it seems to be a common response that the pads are good for about a year of normal use. It's really not such a big deal since they're so easy to change, but why such a relatively short life ?

Thanks for the input,
jjkuhnjr.
