Pricing Help - '89 190E With Pictures, Window Sticker
I was hoping some of you could offer me price guidance for the ‘89 190E 2.6, with 90K miles that I’m going to sell from my mom’s estate. She was the original owner who ordered the car with Smoke Silver paint, full Creme Beige leather interior (not MB Tex), power seats and power headrests, ABS, and electric sunroof.
The car was my mom’s pride and joy; whenever something needed attention, she took care of it. For example, when the orange indicators on the gauges faded, she had a VDO shop replace them, when the black bumper covers faded, they were replaced too. She didn’t like when the windshield started to show fine scratches - it was replaced with MB glass and she made them order the Daimler signature sticker too.
The car has never been smoked in (the lighter’s still in plastic), was always garaged, and most recently stored. The interior is in excellent condition too. Everything works (including the A/C that was converted to new Freon standards). The only problem I find is that a small gauge that shows fuel economy doesn’t move.
It has the original tool kit, manuals, parts book, and window sticker. I even have the original US Customs documents when MB processed it at the Jacksonville vehicle prep center. It’s never been driven out of the State of Florida. Lastly it comes with a custom made car cover.
I’m aware of the various “book values” but I thought I’d ask your input. Thanks!

Quite a nice car, and it's always great to buy a used Mercedes from the original owner, since they tend to take much better care of the car than subsequent owners. I would venture that the car would fetch between $3500 to $4500 in your neck of the woods.
BTW, the economy guage is probably just suffering from a loose or disconnected vaccum tubing. Easy fix.

1990 190E Limited Sportsline
Yup that car is mint!
Im In the process of buying a 1990 190E limited sportsline for $12000 New Zealand 90000 km's lowered on 17" momo wheels. Does anyone know what the difference between a 190E, 190E AMG and 190E sportsline? the person selling it to me says its the same as the AMG but i noticed it has the wing on the boot but not the AMG body kit!

The Sportline = 1/2" lowered sport suspension (bushings, struts, shocks, springs); 16 valve lower ratio steering box, smaller steering wheel, sport seats, badges. It has the same running gear, engine/trans, as the regular W201. In later models, the 16 valve wing was available as an option on Sportlines.
The AMG tuned models, depending on the level of tuning by AMG, featured a much lower suspension with sport struts and shocks. Engine improvements generally featured sport camshaft, larger valves, upgraded headers and exhaust system by Sebring. The interior would sport an AMG steering wheel by Momo, addtional wood trim, and sport seating.
