Pics of Paddles Installed on '05 C55...
Modification to the steering wheel is necessary to seat the paddle shift body deeper in the cut-out for the original button. With modification, you re-use the black plastic housing that was used to mount the original button shift. You also need to drill a hole through the steering wheel to secure the paddle shift utilizing the mounting hole of the paddle shift. Wires are plug and play, but I believe that applies to 2005+ only, so I am unsure of other model years. No re-coding with DAS.
Part number is 171 267 00 46 which gets you both paddles. Dealer list should be approx. $100.

Part number 203 680 52 50. It replaces the center console housing assembly of the ashtray. You re-use the ashtray cover (it just snaps on and off). You get a larger storage area with a rubber mat insert, and the cigarette lighter is replace by a 12v accessory port.

perfect. i checked it out on oempartsdirect and it's $55. do you have a picture of your console? and was it easy to install? i've always wanted more space.

Nice mod! Are the parts for a C55, or from another model? Asking as I thought they don't sell C55 paddles in North America.
That part #171 267 00 46 gives everything that is needed? (paddles, wires, mounting screws, etc...)
Any problems with the dealer ordering it?

first, GREAT JOB!! looks perfect. how did you know how to take the wheel off without blowing the airbag? how long did it take you? lol and secondly where did you get something that let you use bluetooth with your car!! can you see your calls on the nav. screen? Or is your nav not factory?

YOu beat me to it. I just got done with mine at about noon today. It was the biggest pain in the *** I have ever done. I would not do it again honestly! They're wierd to get used to. I swear they grazed my leg when I was turning today. I have driven with them for about 1 hr. now and they're fine. I had to get used to the buttons though also. The feel is soo much better than the buttons but without the m1 program it's moot.

Because S mode if properly "taught" what to do will shift grossly faster than the paddles. The paddles are disturbingly slow in gear changes with the normal programming. Basically I did the paddles and will have the M1 flash so that I can mimic the AMG manufactur kit which includes that same program and paddles which makes it shift like an animal I am told or at least as fast as S mode.-

So KJB55, since you're as adventurous as I, are you down to try and get a digital climate control module to work and find out what the proper part number is for a c55??? This is my other HUGE pet pieve about the car.
BTW guys I found a place that has an activated charcoal cabin filter for Cheap!!! this is huge because I hate smelling rotten crap or whatever smell is outside (this will not eliminate that mold problem with the AC of course however).
I searched around and the best I found was like 50 a filter. The same place that I ordered my K&N's for dirt cheap offered the charcoal filter for something like 11 bucks!! I got it and it works great, because I cannot smell anything!
I think the place is called autopartswarehouse.com
I might not be around to check this thread in a bit but, Wish me good luck as I take the bar in 3 days!!

The installation is very simple. Open the ashtray access door, lift up the center console piece and move backward to gain access to two tabs that hold the entire ashtray assembly in place. Just a small screwdriver is needed to release these tabs and the entire assembly slides up and forward. The electrical connection does not pull straight out, but to the side. The cover piece has two release tabs to install onto the new ashtray delete assembly. Having the cup holder up for the re-assembly helps with the center console piece.

The paddles and wire connections are included - the mounting screws are not. I used generic interior automotive self tapping screws with integrated washer (black) as you can see in the picture. You also have to drill the hole. Use a white marking pen (or white-out) to mark the hole location and drill from the back side of the steering wheel.
I had no trouble having the dealer order the part - it did take about 10 days to come from Germany, however.

The airbag wires are not. Push the gray tab in one click, carefully lift the orange tab up until it stops (it will not fall out), then slide the gray tab further to lock the orange tab up. CAREFULLY lift up each airbag wire harness to disconnect. Don't pry up at an angle. You need a larger allen key and someone to hold the wheel (I don't like using the wheel lock as a stop) to loosen the bolt that holds the wheel on. Re-install that bolt with some blue lock-tite and torque to 80nm or 59ft-lbs.
Total time was about 3hrs. You need to keep your patience as you modify the back of the wheel to accomodate the paddle.
As for the phone - I retrofitted with the OE telephone kit that originally used a Motorola V710 cradle, but I then upgraded to the RAZR bluetooth cradle. The MCSII Nav system is a factory unit and it displays the call information as well as the phone book, sent and received calls.

I was doing research (unsuccessfully) on the climate control mod - until I read elsewhere in the forum that Steve had no luck, or it was very hit or miss, and have since given up. Steve's research and know-how is incredible, and I doubt we'd uncover something that he hasn't.

yeah there has to be a way. I would be totally wiling to do th reasearch on what all is required and probably just do it even if I had to do some wiring because I cannot stand having the stupid windows fog up all the time just using vent and hate the knobs and erratic temperatures. I can't believe they went from the c32 with a charcoal filter and I think digital to neither. Cheap *******s!

I like them. Now if we can just get the skinny on the m1/m2 flash that is available in germany so they can be more useful!!! Who has actually done this, I know of a couple of guys who weaseled it. PM me or post where and the rest. Otherwise maybe getting the SLR tranny flash might do the trick
