Door lock pins-AGAIN
I know this has been addressed before but I didn't see any definitive answers. I just opened my back door (No one EVER sits in the back seat) and my door lock pin was sitting on the floor. I picked it up and noticed the bottom had a about a 1/4" crack. I went straight to the dealership and was told they couldn't just replace the pin and that it would talk 2-3 hours to repair. I know this is incorrect. I called CEC Wheels (the big Brabus dealer) and I asked about ordering the Real Brabus Door lock pins. Does anyone have these (I saw the fake ones on ebay)? And did anyone ever finally determine how the pins come off (screw or pull)? I hate just putting Brabus door pins- I'm considering that beautiful shift knob too

yeah, my rear right door pin pop out and sit on the floor when I first got the car, I just put it back and did not happen again since then, can not believe MB dealer did not want to do any fix.
Every time when we deserve a fix under warranty by dealer, they always disappointed us!

They DID say they could fix it- it was just going to take a ridiculous amount of time and they did not have a fix for the brittle plastic yet . So when people are replacing with Brabus or AMG door pins- they have to break off the oem's?

From what I read here on this forum, you have to take the door panels off in order to take off the REAR door pins. And you do NOT need to break anything to replace the pins with a Brabus version. I don't know the exact thread, but I've read it before here, so I guess a search is in order.
Apparently, the FRONT door pins do not need such extreme measures to be replaced.
Don't take my word for it though; I haven't tried it. Try to find that thread... the guy put up buncha pictures and the process is discussed in great detail.

mine came off too but thats because an idot sat in the back seat and pulled it off, so im guessing the rear one are not the screw type. the dealership replaced it no problems..

my right rear door pin come off as well hahah. It's because people in the back have no control over it when the doors are locked. They cannot get out using the handle as the front passenger can. The next option is pulling the pin but it naturally breaks becuase it's freaking brittle and cheap!!!! LOL. I didn't looke hard enough to see if the c63 i sat in yesterday had the same door pins.

i've seen the e-class as well, not much better. I guess coming from a bmw, where the door pins are pretty much leveled and out of the way when locked, seeing a big piece of plastic sticking out really bothers me....

c63 has different door pins... much better than ours but still cheap IMO. IMO, having never owned a merc before, are all door pins as cheap as the w204 on the mercs?

I came here to see if I was the only one this has happened to. To my surprise, I'm not the only one. When the right rear came off, I checked the left rear. It popped right off, too. The little nub that is left looks clean when the doors are locked (it is flush with the door), which is the way that I think they should all look (I hate the way the door pin sticks out). When it is up, it looks very weird to me.
If the front door pins would pop off like the back ones did, I'd leave them off permanently.

ok I tried to pull every pin out by hand, result ...nada
so I am planning on using a plier to literally rip it out of its sockets.
has anyone tried that yet? anyone succeeded?
I was thinking:
if I needed to get the door panels off to remove the pins,
Id have to pay for that.
if I end up with sour result from ripping the pins out, Id end up going to
get the door panels off regardless.

i'd like to rip them out also, and i have just had my car for a few hours. i'm trying to quit smoking but in the meantime the front lockpins are located exactly where i like to rest my arms. even when i do quit smoking, sometimes i just like to hang my arm out the window and i jab myself on the pin!!! i'd love one that is flush when locked for the fronts.

Is there a little bit of metal sticking out when the actual plastic pieces eventually fall off? that kinda foils my plans.

Search the forums, this has been discussed many times. The back pins are different then the front pins. They are connected to the wiring harness and in order to replace the back pins you must replace the whole wiring harness.

Just finished the rear pins. Went to the dealership the other day and left them fix them one more time. The new assembly was much better than the originals. They must have addressed the issue. I had to pull hard to remove them and when they came off- they were not cracked. I still wanted to change them.
