Dallas Aignment Help Needed

I meant Alignment

Just picked up an 07 E63. Car just got new Pilots and an alignment before I got it. Car pulls to the right excessively ( to me) . I spoke to 2 dealers here ( Park Place) they say this is normal . It drives me crazy. I need to get this fixed and dont have confidence that the dealer will fix it correctly. Does anyone have a suggestion for an independent alignment/Mercedes shop in Dallas?

Thanks,

C

I am in a understand that (not pulling) but lowered my car and looking for a good shop outside the deal.

I have heard that Laser systems by Hunter do a great job..

You might give Import Car Center in Grapevine a call (817) 778-8961. I have heard they are a good shop, but I have no personal experience to back that up. Let us know what you find out.

What a bunch of morons....
Since when is excessive pulling to either side considered normal? I would find someplace else to go. I just had the dealer do my alignment a day or two ago. Since I use an ELM I put it into my slammed driving mode and had them align it in that position. Steering wheel and tires are perfectly straight.
I would be really pissed if the dealer told me that...

Alignment

I understand toe, caster, and camber. I have a race car and am familiar with doing alignments on it. Very Easy.

E63 alignment, not something I personally want to do.

There has got to be a reputable independent Mercedes / European car repair shop in this area.

The service advisor girl made it seem like every time I did an alignment I would need the bolts. Who lets these people have these jobs?

Nah, but you do need the (benz rip off) bolt kit for an alignment though. My tech buddy Ken said that AMG really doesn't give much play in the alignment process either. If she is pulling hard right, I just don't know if they could bring it all the way back.

I have an E55 that I service at Park Place and there techs have consistently had difficulty getting it aligned properly. During one visit, my car was on the rack for nearly 3 hours while they sorted it out.

Try RUF in Carrollton, they do corner balancing too.
Or as Can Drive said, ICC in Grapevine is good too.

I am very happy with Dallas Frame and Alignment. They do "hard to align" vehicles such as limos, duallies, sports cars, etc... They are family owned and take pride in the work. I was very impressed that they actually asked me how the car is driving in order to help with the alignment. They also take the time with each customer to explain what was found and how it could affect the preformance. I consider myself to have a great deal of suspension knowledge and get very annoyed at the typical alignment shop telling me my car is too heavy, or too high performance, or not adjustable. These guys can dial in a little extra camber on one side to correct pulling etc... They will road test and re-do it if not right the first time ( which it usually is). I think you will be impressed.

Mine, has the slightest pull to the right, in the right lane. When I am in the left lane (where we belong) it goes neutral. Next set of tires I'll get the bolts and get it "set up" correctly.

Anyone know a good shop in OC/LA, CA to get these bolts installed and get a good alignment? I've been pulling to the right for over a year and had more than one alignment done at the stealership.

TIA.

For the OP: Autoscope on Denton Drive, they have the Hunter Alignment rack and can set it up the way you like. They are only a couple blocks away from PP and will get you in pretty quickly I bet.

Yes, and they charge about $129 when PP around the corner was $241!
I won't make that mistake again.

Rest of the story

Caster and Camber bolts are installed. I will post the alignment specs.

Car should be pulling left the way it is set up now.

Car still pulls right. Autoscope has been very diligent in trying to fix this.
It is very frustrating however to try and fix this.

Maybe someone else has the same problem?

Front tires have been swapped side to side, re balanced, no problems.

The problem is very strange. As you idle along at slow speeds, the steering wheel almost seems to want to rotate to the right. Sometimes it is more pronounced than others.

It will still pull right at highway speeds all the time

Maybe there is an issue with the steering/rack ??

My old G35 never pulled right on the same roads I am driving on now, so I know it is this car.

Frustrated

Please post the camber specs they have set up. Also have you verified that there is not a dragging brake or bad wheel bearing? Did it pull before the new Pilots and alignment were done at the dealership?

Hi My 04 E 320 has the same problem it pulls to right excessively. The dealer ship saying it could be the steering rack issue.

Please let me know if you got this resolved.

Interesting, I too had a similar problem(slighty to the right) with my E63. However, I took my car to Ewing and my SA got it fixed for me for free! They just did an alignment. Hope you find a fix.

service

Need a good service advisor at Dallas or mid cities MB dealer.. I am going to bring it to the dreaded dealer. I really dont think it is the alignment.

What service advisor would you recommend and at what dealer?

Thanks

Ed Bonelli is supposed to be the AMG SA at Park Place Dallas.

I switched from Ewing because Park Place is an AMG design studio dealer ...or whatever special name they're given. I figured if they spent extra money to get the AMG deal, they might be better.

Had an alignment done a month ago for $240 at PP, seems to be okay so far.

Cool. I might just have to switch to Park Place then. I took the tour of their service area and it is huge compared to Ewing.
