Winter tires revisited
This is why I did not want to go with a true snow tire. If I had Hakka R's on the car, they truly would have melted. These Pirelli Sotto II's took the heat really well. No visible signs of wear. I'm impressed by the performance of these tires in cold and warm driving. The drop-off in grip is maybe only a step below the stock Conti's.
Still no signs of snow in the near term, but plenty of very low overnight temps.
As posted in another thread... These are 19" CLS factory take-offs. Got them for a song on ebay. Had them powdercoated and then I plasti-dipped the centers to match. Now that they're on the car, the style is growing on me. I didn't chose them for looks, but I think they're alright.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Uggg.. went to put my Bremmer Kraft BR09s on today and they fronts don't fit! The problem is that the stock rims are pretty flat, but the BR09s have an inset lip that is hitting the dust/stone guard that sits behind the disc. That thing is HUGE! and it barely fits the stock rim. Only a couple of mm to spare. Now i'm going to have to go through the hassle of freighting them back. At least tirerack is going to take them back and give me full credit. Now i've got to start my search over

For the record these are 19x8.5"s all around. I don't see how an 18" wheel would fit at all, and now i'm going to have to look for a wheel that is essentially flat, or go with something that someone else has already tried successfully.
Attached you can see the original rim, the BR09, and the huge guard that is causing my fitment issues.
I decided to run my OEM rims with winter tires due to fear of experiencing what you have here... the car is just too new for the cheap winter wheel makers to be up to speed on what will fit.

Rhuskter if it's not too much to ask could you measure the minimal inner diameter before returning the wheels?
I wonder why they engineered the shield like that... Never saw that on another car...

If someone who has stock wheels not mounted on a car could take similar pictures it could be a great way to compare stock rims vs all the aftermarket wheels we guys already bought and confirm fitment... or no fit!
Here are my Wheel pics:

I'm anxiously waiting delivery of my E63S wagon, hopefully late January. I have been looking for appropriate winter wheels and tires and came across these on MB Canada's website. It looks like they should fit well (offsets close to standard wheels) and give the option of both straight and staggered fitment. The dealer recommended another CLS 63 rim but at 10 inch rear, interference may be an issue and straight tire setup less than ideal.
Any comments or suggestions? I am committed to buying my wheels from the dealer so I am not looking aftermarket.
Thanks and regards to all.
