Any W211's in/near Boca Raton, FL want to make some easy $ against an M5??
Further, as I have pointed out to him four times now (i.e. he knows this, yet continues to lie about it): The challenge I originally made to apk1013, and the one which he accepted, clearly stated CL55, OR SL55, OR E55:
Do tell, because I've already posted an invite on the MB forum. Let's see you back it up, because I don't believe it.
Oh, and just for good measure, would you also care to extend the invitation to the Turbo Porsche forums as well? This should be good for a laugh.
If you can beat one, you can beat the other.
He then agreed to meet them next week. Now, he's backing away from even that, saying that he'll only race a CL55. What a joke!!!
APK1013 What did your buddy's Turbo run?

I was implying that it is pretty ironic that there was a CL55 there at the track since we can't find one to race me. I knew you weren't going if I didn't go. I did not mean it that way. I think the Turbo ran 12.5 or 12.6.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I am a HUGE fan of German cars, particulary BMWs at the moment as I enjoy spirited driving, whilst still having the need to carry luggage and passengers. Although when I do eventually buy an automatic, I think it will be something along the lines of an S600. I just can't live without manual. The SMG in the new M5 pisses me off, but that's a whole different discussion. I'm willing to try it
Now to the point of my post - I used to own an E39 M5 which I have now traded in a 645Ci untill the new E60 M5 arrives here in South Africa. Speaking from this point of view, and being quite a good shifter in my opnion, there is NO WAY IN HELL that he can hope to beat any of the AMG's, save for the C55 and C32, which will walk him if he does bad shifting.
I'd very much like to see a video of this race
And my money isn't on the M5......Back in 2000 when it was launched it was king of the hill. The competition has wised up since then, and while the E39 M5 can still compete on the track, given a proper driver, it is no match for a car of equal weight with a bigger supercharged engine.
Just to say, I am in no way biased to a single manufacturer, my garage will hopefully one day consist of a BMW M6, a MB S600 and a VW Touareg V10 turbo-diesel

Here's your post where you promised to race the E55 AMG:
If you want to go to Moroso one night, e-mail me.
I already pointed out the following two, of the E55 with four doors, the CL55 with two:
Motor Trend's test of CL55: 0-60: 4.27 sec.; 1/4 mile: 12.38 @ 114.45:
Motor Trend's test of E55: 0-60: 4.2 sec.; 1/4 mile: 12.39@ 116.21:
Hmm...looks like your theory is in trouble there....but was this a fluke?? Let's see: here is Road & Track's 0-100-0 test from last year, which featured among other cars the four-door E55, and the two-door retractable hard top convertible SL55, which weighs 200 pounds more than the E55 (and the same as a CL55).
Here is the results page. The graphs are screwed up, so unless you've got a huge monitor it's difficult to see, but if you look at the "all time" list, they are tied for sixth place, with the following results:
0-100-0 time:
E55 AMG: 15.0 seconds
SL55 AMG: 15.1 seconds
Wow, such a difference!!

Does this hold true for other two-door and four-door cars in the supercharged/turbocharged Mercedes lineup? Well, let's have a look:
Car & Driver tests the S600: 0-60 in 4.3 sec., 1/4 in 12.5 @ 115 mph:
Car & Driver tests the CL600: 0-60 in 4.5 sec., 1/4 in 12.6 @ 115 mph:
Uh-huh. You're making excuses, and everyone knows it. Come back when you're ready to go to the track, son.

, so you'll forgive us if we are less than optimistic about showing up at all.
Do you have any concrete date in mind, or is this just another empty promise?
