Wife and I just took ownership of a 2024 GT 55 and the “finance department” gentleman recommended the 7 year warranty for $9,999.00. He was unable to provide specific details about what exactly this extended warranty covered, however, he said “any AMG work costs double.” There was also a service warranty, again, with virtually no specifics regarding what is covered. I must say, I have driven many a car in my day but this particular GT 55 is spectacular! I can go on but will leave this thread to hopefully obtain some insight from anyone who has experience regarding whether it is worth getting any extended warranty (or any other Mercedes warranty- service, etc.) for this car. Mechanically the car is pristine, its the computer and the electronics I hope to have covered.
We live in Southern California, hope to take this car to Hawaii when we retire (not sure when!).
Thank you for any response!!

Good choice on denying those stealership packages.

Here is what I did when offered the same "package". I formally asked my MB dealer for a detailed warranty sheet explaining all coverage for the type and length of time the warranty is valid. When they did not respond, I called MB Canada and told them the dealer was uncooperative. Within a week I had all the documentation I needed and an MB rep. called and offered to explain in detail what and what was not covered and for how long, how much etc. I have never had my car serviced at a dealer but found a very reputable mechanic about 15 km away, who has kept my MB in perfect shape so far, at almost half the price of MB. As an example, MB wanted $2400 cdn to change all 4 disc brakes. My mechanic changed all 4 with Canadian made MB kits for 890$, tax in. In order to find a reliable mechanic in your area, ask other MB owners, you'll eventually find a reliable guy or gal.

Recently bought a GT 55 and declined all of the extended warranty packages. Never bought them, never will. The only issue i had with my previous AMG (2018 C 43) was a blown front strut that MB replaced (both sides) for $500 as a "courtesy warranty." Of course, the problem happened about 3 months after the basic warranty expiration...

Absolutely no idea. Tech told me (and showed me) that the seal had ruptured. Wondered if it was a manufacturing defect as i never hit any really hard bumps/potholes/etc. nor could i relate it to any other event. I just started noticing a thumping noise in the right front one day, out of the blue...

Strange, what were the tire pressures? The common failure on those cars were leaking shocks not a completely blown struct.

I think i had them at 40 psi on the front, 36 on the rear - whatever was the recommended pressures.
