Mercedes announced a starting price for the 2025 GT43 of $105,900 (not including delivery). I realize that many forum members may not consider the 4 cylinder GT43 a "real" AMG. But, I am thinking that it may be something I could let my grandson drive on occasion and not worry about him getting the car impounded, or worse, killing himself.

It replaces the SL 450, vehicle is quite heavy but not having 4matic helps, that horsepower with the heavy chassis might be slow but the lighter front end might help being completely RWD also probably makes it fun. Originally Posted by LAZARU5

A young driver could cause havoc in a Corolla ... so it's really up to the driver and the mentor/instructor. I'm sure this will be a great car ... once the bugs are worked out as per Benz usual

I have the SL43 (basically same engine as the GT43, a bit less tuning) in addition to my GT55 I so I have good comparison point. Driving on public roads there really isn't a huge difference in acceleration/speed. When we are talking about a half second difference zero to 60, and a top speed of 183 vs. 174mph, they both could easily get someone killed if not careful. The 55/63 models have all wheel drive and are heavier, which probably makes them safer, even with the bigger engine. That said, it's not nothing to save ~$40k if you're going to be lending it out to your grandson (lucky kid), and if you're not taking it to the track or pushing the limits you'll still get quite a lot of fun out of the 43.Originally Posted by LAZARU5
