Steve Sutcliffe is an excellent driver. I would suggest that for most owners the GT R, of those four cars, might well be the fastest on that circuit; this because the GT R is so damn stable on a road course whereas the other three can be quite a handle to keep them off the grass; see how often his hands are flicking the wheel to overcome oversteer on the other three.
Regardless a great video; thanks Shalul!

The GT2RS would only be faster with a super skilled driver... ona super long winding course like VIR the Ford GT is faster, ist also more than double the price

Only just caught up with this, I found it really interesting because I did a track day at the same circuit in the GTR myself earlier this summer.
Its really is surprising that the GTR is that fast, the GTR doesn't suit the coastal circuit very well. The first half of the track is ok, the section coming into the hill suits it well but from the tight left at the top of the hill and down through the corkscrew to the finish line the car is at a distinct disadvantage because of its weight. There's lots of understeer and the rapid changes of direction it doesn't deal with so well.
I would have expected the lotus to do better, it should have been the fastest car by miles through certain corners.
From a personal perspective I'm pretty pleased because I ran a 1:16 in the wet, I feel I could match Steve's time in the dry

please don’t compare the gtr to the gt2rs. Porsche is killing it with the gt cars. Bottom line it is faster, better looking and as far as the price let’s look at the depreciation of these two cars in a couple of years.

I gotta say I really like my slightly modified GTS compared to my old 680 whp 1,700lb. Lotus, the enjoyment level is right up there.
Yeah my old Lotus would have killed all four cars tested on the tight road course since it was the inspiration for the Exige 430 and if the Exige had my old engine it would have killed even the Porsche.
After all the Porsche only won the test due to it's HP, now put a 700 hp GTR up against the Porsche and I'd say things would be a little bit different I think.
But where is the mostly carbon fiber body on the GTR ?

I know the Gt2RS is faster than a AMG GTR ... it's twice the price.. 5 seconds around a 4 plus mile road course.. as tested here is $330k (without mark ups..Im sure they are going for 400 plus).. vs a $170-190k GTR)

Front Wings, (Fenders);
Roof;
Torque tube.
Not exactly what one would describe as “mostly” CF, but every kg lost is time gained on a road course. Overall the car is 15 Kgs lighter than a GT S. Since the car has additional equipment over the GT S that adds weight such as the RWS, Active Aero, etc., it’s fortunate it’s lighter at all.

.....Rear Spoiler
.....Side Mirrors
It’s getting lighter and so will your wallet.
I’m thinking the hood, and rear hatch may be next.

I watched a video where a stock E63s station wagon beat a renntech turn GTR in the quarter mile lol.
