V600 Firmware / Upgrade
Seems there are forums for everything out there. One forum, below is dedicated to firmware upgrades for the Motorola VXXX phone, and definitely focuses on the V600. Even more specifically, they speak about firmware upgrades which INCREASE the reception of the phone for GSM usage.
http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=652295
I've put a post up there to see if anyone would help us out to figure out what firmware the MB phone is, and how we go about upgrading to take advantage of the better reception firmware. Also, how we would keep the MB specific parts of the firmware so COMMAND recognizes our phones. If anyone has any information on this topic, please post it here, or over at that forum. It would be great to see our phones actually get good reception!!
What would be even better is if someone could figure out how to migrate the firmware settings that are specific to MB over to other phones so we can use different Motorola phones, or dare to dream, but maybe different cradles with other brand phones!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Just doing some deep sea fishing here guys. Let me know if anyone has any information or ideas on this topic.
Thanks,
Gareth

Mikbox
I didn't know about it until I joined the forum here, but I'm glad I read about the Mikbox. I believe AMG2GO pointed me in the direction when I was looking to hook up my non-MB V600. Anyways, I have my plain ol' Cingular-branded V600 hooked up to my CL now, and it works like a friggin charm. Firmware updates are immaterial now, as the Mikbox seems to be version agnostic. Works with a bunch of Moto phones, but you need the right cradle. Mik'll hook you up.
One tip I can offer phone users (if they're obsessive like me) is to program up the phonebook with following formula for names: Use the first 10 characters for name (filling any remaining of the 10 with spaces), then use the last 6 for location (HOME, MOBILE, OFFICE fit perfectly). This will break up the display nicely on the dash LCD with the first row being the name and second row being the location.
Cheers,
-V

By comparing the file SyncML_file in the phone root directory In boththe Cingular flex and the MB_Cingular flex, I found differences.

Also, SEEM files of both flexes need to be compared, But I do not knew where to start (there are 2064 SEEM files)

yes software is needed to upgrade your software.. if you want I can do it for you.. just make sure your phone's battery is fully charged.. If you would like I can load your phone with games... remove default pictures.. have a custom text on your outer display when you have the flip open... phones can be modified as well as our beloved cars

Question: Is it the firmware or the flex file which allows the V600 to communicate to the command?
Theoretically can the V600 MB Cingular flex file work on other Motorola phones?
What other phones fit in the V600 cradle? or the V710 cradle?
