MikBox installation (Phone upgrades)
Thank you, Cristian.
What's a MikBox? Visit http://www.mikbox.com

If there isn't something there now - there will be soon. They pretty much are always popping up.

Lots of options for the PSE and compensator. Make sure you get the cable for the PSE also. I think most of these will work - just check www.mikbox first!

I almost made the same mistake ... his firmware update memo states right at the top of the page ... if you've got a Timeport PSE ... do not use this option ... thinking I've got the 710 ... I almost hit the "send" button to begin the programming ... my CLK 55 is an 02; which the PSE came programmed to support the Timeport phone ...
Lesson learned for me ... always read the firmware update notes ... and know exactly how your PSE is programmed for the stock phone the car's Command unit's software was originally programmed to support. And then make sure Mik's firmware notes are in line with your PSE.

The problem I have is that the testcall worked even though the phone wasn't provisioned for data calls, Cingular are either unable or unwilling to provision the phone for data and so I'm left with a dead Mikbox until the serial programming call I've had to order from Mikbox (another $40!) arrives.
Because none of my laptops has a serial port, and MIK's cable is serial-to-RJ 48, I use a USB to serial adapter to do updates via download (thanks for your help there, MIK) - such adapters are commercially available. Mik has posted a USB driver on his site to enable use of the USB adapter with the serial cable. I successfully updated my MikBox to the new 2.13 firmware with the USB/serial adapter and Mik's cable.
You should be able to update your box this way, or alternatively, send it back to him for update.
Another note: Mik will sometimes load only one version of an update on his OTA server (i.e., for V60 PSEs only, not for TimePort or StarTac PSEs) - but there may be a TimePort or StarTac version of the update available for laptop update. At other times, the update may be for one PSE or another only. It pays to check, and read carefully. And, as WhyTry noted - it's the type PSE you have that matters for the update, not the phone.
