AUX addition in 2005 CL...
Hi,
It seems the 2005 CL's (and maybe S-Class) with the new DVD navigation (MOST) do not have AUX inputs in the glovebox, this has also been confirmed by Mercedes that it was taken out for the 2005 model year (stupid decision).
So, does anyone know what cable I need to get from the dealer to connect one up to the back of the DVD COMAND system myself?
I can see part numbers for other COMAND systems but not for the new DVD one.
If anyone has any info on adding AUX to a DVD COMAND system please let me know!
Many Thanks!!
Matt.

greetingz,
Hi, Big Sis - can the tuner be used with U.S. spec Siemens units, or are they for Euro spec only?

Sorry Matt for ruining your day...how is life in the UK anyways? I see you upgraded from your previous CL!

Install is fairly straightforward if you have some basic car audio experience. You will be bypassing the CD changer to create an open slot in the system for the new module to occupy.

I've installed this gizmo in two of my W220 S Class (same era and hardware as W215 CL). It gives you an Ipod (30 pin) interface, an Aux In, but most important a great sounding Bluetooth Audio connection for streaming from any mobile device. Not cheap but it will greatly enhance your ownership experience. Highly recommended.

I wonder if there is a way to tap into the Sat input and maybe solder some RCAs on there and run a mini plug to the glove box.

Not sure there's a better way but possibly a cheaper way. There are some much less expensive modules out there but I only have personal experience with the MoBridge unit. No idea how to tap into an existing source, but if you figure it out you'd make a lot of 220/215 guys happy.

I've had difficulty finding these less expensive ones you speak of. Cheapest I've seen was $500. I do love all the features of the one you suggested but I really don't NEED all the extras.

The CL and S have a nice sounding system. Not a powerhouse but really clean and detailed, much much better than what the next generation S got.
It definitely stung paying the $750, but you know on these cars nothing worth doing is cheap.
Hey, my 04 had a cassette deck hidden behind and above the screen, like the CD slot was hidden below. Then a $49 Bluetooth cassette shell adapter would do the trick.
EDIT: Forgot... The audio components on the MOST ring don't have analog anything to tap into. They're all fiber optic.

navtv.com has the mostauxmb couple hundred, simple install. I think I have one laying around, seen it looking for bluetooth interface for someone. If i didn't toss it I will let you know. did maybe 100ish of them on the s/cl never had an issue when working at mb dealership.
