Do you guys really like bose?

And yes, I do like the MB Bose system (minus) Stock Head Unit.
Unless you want to enter a sound pressure level competition or rattle windows when you drive by, there is no reason to consider swapping them out.
Also IMHO, the Bose sound versus "pure audiophile" sound argument is not an issue for mobile applications.
The Bose is great if you listen to talk radio like my dad all day. Once you start listening to stuff which is a bit quicker, forget about it.

Anyway, Bose pioneered true sound systems for OEM automotive use starting in the mid '80's. Within a few months, all car companies started marketing even basic radios as "sound systems", without even making a change to their hardware!
Looking back now, we can at least thank Bose for the ability to check off an option box on almost any car that will provide some sort of upgraded sound quality. If you want even more, the aftermarket is still willing to help.

One other thing to remember about "Bose" car audio systems is that frequently the systems are not all-Bose. Some are - but some are not. Bose may simply provide the optimization of the system, which is built by the manufacturer (my Audi had a system labeled "Audi/Bose" - parts were Bose, but not all of the system). As a result you can have a lot of variance in a car audio system that has the Bose label - but not all of the deficiencies can be attributed to Bose.
My Infiniti Q45 of some years ago had Bose speakers, each with an independent Bose amp - but the head unit was not Bose. It had Bose equalization to optimize the sound for the car. I wound up adding tweeters in the forward part of the side windows, because it sounded "dead." Apparently Infiniti agreed, because the following year it added tweeters in the "A" pillar near where I had placed mine.
Of course I was told I couldn't do this - but I simply used an appropriate band pass filter for the tweeters, and it worked out fine.
I would like to get a tighter bass in the S500 - not louder, not boomier - just tighter. But the sound isn't bothersome enough to warrant a priority right now. Overall, it's very good but could be better.

It's fine to compare oem systems to one another, but IMHO oem systems will never match a well designed quality aftermarket system.
While I was an audio engineer for a major japanese electronics company, we tested Bose products. If you have Bose, your missing out on ALOT of audio information. Wether that is in a vehicle or in your home theater or wherever.
There are big gaps in the frequency response and the high end is usually clipped real low. It does depend on what you listen to as to how much your going to miss though.
Audiophile's alike have opted to upgrade to a better system with more features.

Sorry but most women would care less if you put a 50 year old radio in a car and called it shinny and new. Fancy Alpine? How old was the Fancy alpine. I look at all of the factory radios that I've had in all of the MB's I've owned, and while they look better than US based auto setups, they are still lacking functionality, appearance and quality for the dollar. Some of these new radios out there are such high resolution and quality that for the price of the factory, if I could, I would opt to not have any radio installed at time of dealer delivery. Again, Audiophile who appreciates sound quality as well as asthetics.

I see few people on this forum fill out their profile, should I be hiding my personal info also?

I'm no audiophile, but I see no point in replacing all the speakers and the amp with aftermarket stuff. Seems to me the Bose amp/speaker setup is "tuned" for the car. That's how Bose works, right?
