So you think you're pre-wired for Hands-Free?
Look carefully at the fine print. IF you are not a YM 2007, you are in for a bit of a surprise. I spent a good bit of today at the dealer, and found out my pre-wired 2005 C230 (Kompressor-SS for what it's worth) is in fact "pre-wired".
BUT-
You need the following 'completion package' to make this work:
1 each Q-6-82-0965 Vehicle Completion
List 1109.75
1 each Q-6-82-0907 Vehicle Completion
List 223.10
1 each 6-7-87-5839 MB BLue Tooth
List 469.20
GRAND TOTAL-
1928.19 plus 300.00 for installation.
Nice.
I suspect that last item is the so-called puck. The 1st item is most likely the MHI interface unit. I didn't ask about the second.
So, caveat emptor. You may wish to seek alternatives to using the MB hands-free system. Warts and all.

Since Mercedes gives you a choice of phone brands, it should be obvious not everything is there until you choose your phone.
Surely you don't think all phones are the same?
Surely you don't think folks that don't want phones want to pay for everything?
Indeed, this is not news.
But, they probably are out to get you.

What about the MHI unit, which is that box in the trunk?

My vehicle was ordered with the 050 hands-free cell phone integration kit w/o handset or cradle, for $765. The cradle is easy to install. I think it was around $200.

So what about version coding through STAR? Would the dealer give any problems if you were to do a self-install, or is version coding not necessary?

Can't begin to answer for all dealers - but they charge for hooking up the STAR diagnostics and would make some money - so, doubt they'd object. And with a new phone system being installed in a car that didn't have one before, version coding of the fiber optic ring would be required..

Parrotkits.com also sells the steering wheel wiring harness to work with parrot bt. I called them and showed the pictures of my 06 C230SS with Navi Amp wiring in the trunk. and they dont have the harness for my car. I'm still looking for what's available out there.
