Acoustics Question

Hi,

I am just wondering:
Is the high mid tone in a three-way speakers system hurt the human ear ?

In my other car i installed a new rear speakers (3-way) , should i disconnect the mid-tone sub speaker ???

i changed the head unit with no use (had a pioneer & installed a sony xplod)

Thank you

No speakers can hurt the human ears. If the frequencies are to high only a dog will hear them . listening to insanely high levels of sound however can. Before another crazy question comes out, watts is a electrical number and has nothing to do with sound pressure levels. Visist a local car audio show and listen and look at what people use in sound pressure level contests

Vibra, the phrasing of your question makes it almost impossible to determine what you're really asking. However, eclipsed has done as good a job as anyone possibly could in covering the possibilities.

What are you using to determine that the speakers are giving you a bad mid-range? Sound Meter, the human ear, personal preference? What exactly is happening that appears to be a mid-range issue?

Actually a little over 170.1db will hurt you, literally make your ears bleed.
